July 4th, missing the Apple pie....

It is already July and July 4th was Independence Day in the US. Usually on Independence day, we get to enjoy some fun BBQs, backyard (or park) potlucks and also at night time many places will have fireworks. As for me, I miss being back in the US for this day off because it was just something i used to just drive down to the beach and sit and wait for the fireworks with my close friends. Also cant forget the Apple Pie...!!! I mean, thats the American style pie just linking together to July 4th. Someone told me the nicest thing about me before - "You are as American as an Apple pie." haa, well cant believe it is already July....MAN....where has the time gone!?

As American as it can get. Burger King's apple pie in Japan.
(first time to try it, but i still think Mkds apple pie is better)

Already we had TANABATA, the so-called 'Summer Valentine's Day' in my mind (and also to the jap marketing lingo, rite?) where the 2 lover stars get to meet along the Milky Way. And this one day is the only day they get to rejoice their love. It is a romantice story - sounds like Romeo and Juliet of the japanese stars - it sure sucks that it was raining and couldnt really see any stars, but i think if you believe, perhaps wish upon a star, let life take its toll and see how things roll in your path, right? Things these days been a bit rough for me....but just dealing with it day to day. I think i always tend to get myself in this kind of rut and letting it get to me. So i have to keep my heard on straight, make sure to stay grounded at all times, and be at a neutral state of mind. Last night at Leafcup it was very busy. We had 2 full tables full almost every hour the entire nite! It was crazy but nice. we almost felt like my job as Back-up now needed someone to be another back-up for me. During the night it was cool because I saw some familiar faces - some people i have met back in Golden week and told me that they checked the calendar and came in to say Hi to me - and many of the guests at my table have been coming to leafcup for about 1~3 years already.....! regulars, wow. =) one person told me im 'famous on the calendar' -HAAAA....dunno what to comment to this, but perhaps flattered and thankful. .(blush) Another lady came in last night and she was soo stressed and tired from work, and she wanted to find somewhere fun and nice to go. She wanted to escape from her office earlier cuz it was also Tanabata and she wanted to treat herself to some pampering. Then she thought hard about what made her happy, and she said thats why she came to leafcup. (that is a good feeling when we can provide this type of emotional comfort spot for people - aww) ...just something that made me smile and wanted to share it here.

Days are sooo humid and hot. I wonder how all the japaenese girls still manage to wear sweaters or cardigans over their tanktops when its THIS hot....!? (and people on the train look at me like im a monster for just wearing a tubetop or a tanktop)

P.S. so i realized that i AM old whether you tell me i look young like either 20 or 21.
i just listened to the modern-day DAIGAKUSEI's conversation and realized that they are indeed young.
 若いコ達にはやはりついていけない、ね。Their 会話信じられないほど 早い...、=_=

LeafCup's Cocktail Party (6/26)
My very first time making cocktails. aahahah.

life is good when you can be yourself (gaijin mode) and have sushi after work with the fellow pals....even better when its 100yen sushi thats tasty..! Train sushi is the most amazing invention.
